How to Turn On or Off Vanish Mode on Instagram
Vanish Mode is simple to use. Here’s the method to do it. Before we delve deeper into this, it is foremost to make sure you have Updated the Messaging. If you haven’t done it yet, follow our guide below.
- Launch the Instagram App and visit your profile by clicking on the Profile icon in the bottom right corner.
- Click on the three lines at the top, then select Update Messaging available at the bottom from the listed options. Now, Tap Update.

How to Turn ON Vanish Mode:-
Step 1: Open Instagram App and click on the Message/Chat Icon at the top.
Step 2: Select the chat you want to use in the Vanish Mode.
Step 3: Inside the DM, start swiping up from the bottom of the chat until a message appear that says, “Swipe up to turn on vanish mode”. Just Keep swiping without releasing till you get “Release to turn on vanish mode” in blue color.
Now you can start texting like normally you do. As your friend read the messages and closes the chat, all the content will disappear.
How to Turn Off Vanish Mode on Instagram:-
Turning Off the Vanish Mode is much easier than turning it On.
Step 1: Open the Chat where vanish mode is already activated.
Step 2: To disable the vanish mode and switch back to normal chat, swipe up again. keep swiping until you receive the message “Release to Turn Off Vanish Mode”, and then quickly release it.
Now, You will be directed to the normal chat, where you will be able to see your earlier messages after you have turned off vanish mode.

Things to Keep in Mind While Using the Vanish Mode
Here are some important points to know so you can decide whether using Vanish Mode is good for you or not.
- When you turn on Vanish Mode, all the messages, videos, pictures, and other content in a chat will disappear when the recipient reads them.
- The Feature doesn’t let you save, copy or share the disappearing messages.
- Vanish Mode is available only for Person to Person Chats as of now. It may be added for Group Chats later.
- You can’t use the disappearing messages feature with those Instagram accounts that you have never followed before.
- While Using Vanish Mode, you will get notifications if someone screenshots or screen records your conversation.
- You can get your old messages by turning off the vanish mode and switching back to the normal chat.
