You might have noticed Instagram profiles with different categories in their bio. Usually, these Categories consist of descriptions like artist, athlete, musician, teacher, etc. People use them to describe what they do and what’s their profession.
However, you can only add categories in your bio when you are using a professional Instagram account. So first, you need to switch your account to a professional account to use this feature.

How to Put Athlete on Instagram Bio
Step 1: Launch the Instagram app and visit your profile by tapping your profile icon at the bottom.
Step 2: Tap the three-lined menu on your profile page.
Step 3: Tap on Settings, then select Account.
Step 4: Now click on the “Switch to professional account” option available near the bottom of the screen.
Step 5: Keep tapping the Continue button till you reach the screen with the title “What best describes you?”.
Step 6: Look for the athlete category or any other that you want to show in your bio. Also, you can change them anytime you wish to.
Use the search bar to find the category that best describes what you do if it is not in the suggested section.
Step 7: Click on the Toggle next to Display on profile to make the selected category appear in your Instagram bio.
Step 8: Tap Done at the bottom to complete the process of switching to a professional account.
Step 9: Now, you’ll have to choose between the Creator and Business options after landing on the page with the header “Are you a Creator?”. Afterward, tap the Next button.
Select the creator option if you belong to the field like the Content producer, influencer, or public figure. But go for the Business option if your work represents a brand or organization or if you are a retailer.
Congratulations! You have completed your professional account setup and added the athlete category to your Instagram bio.
Note that the screen will still ask you to complete some extra steps that you can do anytime to make your professional account good. You can perform those steps by simply following the on-screen instructions. Remember that you do not have to finish these extra steps right away. You can always choose to do them later whenever you are ready.
