So, why recent searches not showing based on your settings and how you can fix this. Google recent search feature is a way to discover what you searched previously on the Google app. This feature is quite popular on the platform, and people love to use it. 

A few days back, a lot of users reported that Google recent searches have suddenly vanished from the Google App and showing trending searches only.

Some of them attempted a few methods to get the google recent search features back, such as turning the Web activity ON, personal/private results also ON. But still, they are not able to use the recent search feature. 

Others tried a different method, like disabling the trending searches to get it back the recent searches. And due to this, they are getting a black screen now.

Why are Recent Searches Not Showing On the Google App Based On Your Settings?

There are several reasons why Google’s recent searches not showing, like:

  • You have accidentally Disabled the Web & App Activity Status
  • You have not cleared the Google App cache
  • You have logged into an incorrect google account
  • You have issues with your Internet Connection i.e. Wi-Fi or mobile data 
  • There could be a bug or glitch in Google App
  • The Google App server is currently slow or down
  • You have not updated the Google App for a long time 
  • You are using the Incognito Mode

How To Fix Recent Searches Not Showing On the Google App Based On Your Settings?

Method 1: Turn ON Web & App Activity

For PC Users

Search and Open the Activity Controls page, log in to your Google Account >> Tap to Turn ON the WEB & APP Activity.

For Android Users

  1. Launch your device’s Settings Application
  2. Locate and Open the Google Application, then the Manage Google Account option.
  3. Select Data & Personalization option. 
  4. Under the “Activity controls,” click WEB & APP Activity, and turn it ON.

For iOS Users

Search and Open the Activity Controls page, log in to your Google Account, and then Turn ON the WEB & APP Activity.

Method 2: Try switching Between Wi-Fi and Mobile Data or Vice Versa

Check your internet speed, weather condition, and others that may raise any error on your Internet. Turn ON and OFF your router or mobile data if you use it. 

 Also, try altering your mobile data and Wi-Fi to see if the Google App recent search issue is related to this. 

Method 3: Re-Enable the Google App

To Fix the Google App issue, you need to disable the Google App, then re-enable it. Sometimes, deleting and re-installing the Google App can resolve the issue. 

Method 4: Update The Google App

If you are using an older version of the Google App, update it to the latest version. Sometimes previous versions fail and do not work perfectly. 

Method 5: Restart Your Device

If any above solutions are not working for you, the problem might be in your device, not Google App. 

So, close your device, then restart it after a few minutes.

Method 6: Log Out and log in to the Google App 

To Fix the Google App issue, first, you need to log out from the app and then log back into the app using your correct google account after a few minutes. 

Method 7: Reset Your Google Search History

On your Chrome menu, tap settings and then choose the Advanced option. Now, look for the “Reset pages” option >> “Reset all Settings” >> then tap the “RESET” button. 

Here, Google may ask you to confirm your decision. After you do it, the entire search history along with other settings will be reset, and Google will become a newly Un-used app. 

Method 8: Disable VPN

If you are using a VPN on your phone while logging into the Google app, turn your VPN off. Then try it again without any VPN connection. 

Wait For Sometime Until Google Fix The Bug

If the Google App is not working even after you have tried all the above methods indicates there is some bug or glitch issue in the Google App, or the Google App server is temporarily down.
